What a wonderful game courtesy of Fantasy Flight games. The game mechanics are highly dynamic, yet at the same time easy to learn and pick up, even against opponents who aren't into tactical combat games. It's designed to be expandable and get you to gladly hand over lots of cash, to even buy multiple models of identical ships as you build your fleet. E-Wings are great for the rebels to add to their fleet, as they're strong and very capable in combat. I'm usually the rebels/resistance because every single opponent in my circle wants to be the baddies. It's core set is available in original trilogy or Force Awakens versions, but all parts are fully compatible.
Those who prefer a strategic scale can play the sister game to X-Wing, called Star Wars: Armada. Here you command the Capitol ships of the Imperial Navy. Your strategy is much different. In X-Wing, I became adept at adapting to my opponents' tactics. In Armada, it's best to be prudent and think ahead.
Both games are excellent ways of enjoying ship-to-ship combat in a way that can put a dent in your wallet, but still just as enjoyable with a smell fleet.
