What an incredible game. Love or hate Star Wars: Episode I, yo can't deny that the four-front Battle of Naboo was intense. This game, under Hasbro's Avalon Hill subsidiary, recreates the battle.
The game is weighted in favor of the Trade Federation/Sith, so the Jedi/Republic/Gungan player must carefully choose the strategy: will you foucs on the lightsaber duel? The plains battle, the Palace ambush, or flying Anakin through the blockade? The game can be won with Anakin alone, but while trying, you may lose all your other forces to the dark side. It's best to find a balance between strategies, complete with deploying a decoy Queen Amidala to fool Nute Gunray.
The game retailed originally for $99 (I believe) when it was released in 1999. Today it sells on eBay for triple that price. Yet it's so enjoyable to play that if you can afford it, you should pick it up. The battle mechanics are made simple with color-coded dice, and the boards are well-made, including the three-story palace. Tons of miniatures are included in a variety of colors (each piece is a solid color). It's quite a showpiece as well as a well-designed game.
DO you own this game or have any game experiences witht his or any other Hasbro game, which you'd like to share?
